Question 12: a Ghna in oros (trumps) and a Ghna in bastos, for a contract at 80.

The answers

  • 1. B) 10. All 40 cards are dealt, 10 per player: a hand has 10 tricks.
  • 2. A) The 3. The ranking is Ace, 3, Rey, Cabal, Sota, 7, 6, 5, 4, 2. See the Touti cards.
  • 3. C) 120. Ace 11, 3 = 10, Rey 4, Cabal 3, Sota 2: 30 points per suit, 120 in total.
  • 4. B) 70. Bidding goes from 70 to 230. See Touti bidding.
  • 5. A) No. Bids go up in steps of 10: 70, 80, 90… Amounts like 75 or 85 don't exist.
  • 6. C) A signal. A player who has passed can't bid again, but can send AS, COMPTE, +10 or PASS to their partner when it is the partner's turn, a bid has been made and an opponent is still in.
  • 7. A) The hand is cancelled. Nobody scores, the deal passes to the next player and the cards are dealt again.
  • 8. C) The player after the dealer. That player spoke first in the auction, and leads whoever the declarer is.
  • 9. B) Trump. If you can't follow suit, trumping is compulsory, even if your partner is winning the trick.
  • 10. A) Any card of that suit. Once the trick has been trumped, the obligation to play higher disappears; you only have to follow suit.
  • 11. B) 40. +40 in trumps, +20 in another suit. See the Ghna.
  • 12. C) 20. At 80, only one Ghna of 20 (not in trumps) counts; the +40 does not. It takes 90 for it to count.
  • 13. A) Only the declaring team, after a trick won by the team, and declaring is optional.
  • 14. C) 100. The team that wins the hand scores the bid amount, not the points it collected; the defenders score nothing. See how to score Touti.
  • 15. A) The defenders, if both of them agree. The declaring team then takes the remaining cards and the last trick, and the hand is scored as usual.
